On behalf of the State of Maryland, the Council of State Governments/Eastern Regional Conference (CSG/ERC) and the Maryland 2014 ERC Host Committee, it gives us great pleasure to invite you to CSG/ERC’s 54th Annual Meeting and Regional Policy Forum, to be held in Baltimore, Maryland on August 3–6. As the largest gathering of state elected and appointed officials in the Northeast, the CSG/ERC Annual Meeting and Regional Policy Forum offers an exciting opportunity to address economic and other critical policy issues relating to agriculture, criminal justice, Canada/US relations, education, energy and the environment, health, international trade, and transportation. Our theme, “Strengthening States through Innovation and Entrepreneurship,” will provide us with a unique opportunity to focus on how research, education, and economic-development strategies work together and serve as the backbone of our economy.

The CSG/ERC Annual Meeting is always family friendly! We hope to host you and your family as you enjoy the sights and sounds of Maryland, a state rich in beauty, history, and culture. The summer of 2014 is a very momentous time in our state’s and our country’s history, as we will be engaged in a statewide celebration of the role of Maryland in the War of 1812. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the important Battle of Baltimore, which inspired Francis Scott Key to pen our national anthem as he watched the battle at Fort McHenry. All CSG/ERC Annual Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to visit Fort McHenry, now a  national monument and historic shrine, during the conference’s closing dinner there. To help you experience all that Maryland has to offer, we have planned two days of varied social activities for all attendees, including accompanying spouses/guests and children. As an added bonus, juniors and teens register for free.
We hope you can join us in August in Baltimore for an exciting CSG/ERC Annual Meeting and Regional Policy Forum.
